VOXedinburgh and EducAid present an evening of words, images and music telling the life stories of EducAid Sierra Leone staff.
Portrait exhibition, talks, songs, poetry and illustrations will tell the stories of Sierra Leoneans who have overcome adversity to educate themselves and give back to their communities.
We will also welcome the Country Director of EducAid, Miriam MasonSesay and Professor Alfred Zack-Williams in conversation.

VOXedinburgh thanks everyone who helped Kiva reach
$1 billion of loans.
Yesterday, Kiva crossed $1 billion in loans to students, farmers, women, refugees and so many more entrepreneurs around the world.
Here’s how you helped make $1 billion in change!

We are getting ready to re-loan this money.  If you are interested in being a part of this, let me know.

Back in December we had a brilliant evening of storytelling.  We wanted to keep you updated with what is happening for Saheliya, the charity we have supported through Sē Balē.

Rania was one of our coordinating team for the event from Saheliya and she writes to all of us:

Dear Geoffrey,
First of all I would like to take the opportunity to thank you, Charlotte and everyone else from the team that took part in this project and helped our group, Young Saheliya, with the donation.
The money that was gathered on the night will be used to support the group to take part in the annual carnival that takes place in Liverpool. Broohaha, who are an arts and performing charity organization invited us to take part in this community celebration. The carnival will also take place in Edinburgh, mid July and the group will have the opportunity not only to be part of this big celebration but also to design their costumes, take responsibility for the documentation of the event and other activities.
This donation, has given us the chance to realize most of this project and we are truly grateful for the support.
Kind regards,
We’ll share any further news here, but also watch out for the storytelling event happening this year, bringing amazing real stories from Sierra Leone.

As we move in 2017, there’re a number of projects we’re exploring – all with a cause of making a difference in someone’s life, somewhere.

We’re now looking for artists and artisans to help create a unique event for the first of these: poets, IT-ers, musicians, planners, storytellers,  project designers, illustrators, marketers, and more.

Get in touch with us at to begin the adventure.

As we get set to leave 2016, VOX is already looking to 2017 and has a number of different ideas to explore, from small to big.

As soon as there’s more to share, you’ll be the first to know.  If you don’t want to wait and wonder if there’s something you can be involved in designing then get in touch with

For now, thank you for 2016, for helping raise £514 for Saheliya, and for continuing to reinvest around $1,700 through Kiva microloans.2-heart-and-mind-and-will-in-flux

Hi everyone. Don’t forget, anyone who made it last Friday and wants to find out more about their superpowers (talents and passions) can.
There’s a superpowers journey for one person (worth £150): if you are interested in applying for this, drop an email to by Monday afternoon.
There’ll also be an event in the new year just exploring superpowers: watch this space.

What a brilliant night we had for SĒ BALĒ (She Tells).

The Storytelling Centre was crammed to hear Charlotte Bosseaux tell her personal story of abuse through translation in a way that was transformative, creating a safe space for three girls to tell their own experiences of abuse through storytelling, music and song, and illustration.

All the ticket sales together with donations in the “Lovely Bucket” on the evening so far have totalled £484.  This will be used by Your Saheliya to enable their girls to participate in a creative and imaginative carnival in Liverpool.

VOXedinburgh encourages both the discovery and expression of our superpowers (talents and passion and experiences) and there is the opportunity for someone to discover theirs as a VOXgift.  If you want to know more, drop us a line:

Thanks to everyone who made the evening possible: to all who came and to our tribe using their voices so others may find theirs:
